Now totaling 79,984 preferred terms and 347,000 synonyms, this new version includes 1,397 new terms compared to the previous version released in September 2017. The new Emtree version also incorporates terms added to the National Library of Medicine’s MeSH Thesaurus for 2018.

Of the new terms, 295 are drug terms, allowing you to keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the terminology of pharmacology and biomedicine. In addition, there are also 1,102 new non-drug terms, including:

  • New medical device concepts and device trade names
  • Expanded organism concepts - including snakes important for their venoms, viruses, and other microorganisms
