Latest release of New STN® enhances IP search capabilities and efficiency

16. December 2015

The latest release of new STN is now available!

The new release includes many updates that enhance usability, workflow and search efficiency.

With the addition of DWPISM Manual Codes, INSPEC® Controlled Terms, and NASA Controlled Terms, the Term Explorer now offers access to 14 thesauri to help users create comprehensive search strategies that include coverage of pertinent keywords, concepts and terminology.

Structure editor updates extend chemical structure search capabilities:

  • The Attribute panel provides an easy, intuitive way to view bonds, nodes, element counts and other structure attributes
  • Support for embedded R-groups is now available; up to 20 R-groups, each containing up to 20 substituents, can be included in structure drawings

Additional enhancements include:

  • Faster search and display performance
  • Organization of databases into categories improves navigation and simplifies selection of related databases for queries
  • New filters allow CAplusSM answers to be refined by patent assignee and inventor
  • Images are now exported as .png files for BizInt Smart Charts, enhancing integration of new STN search results for post-search reporting and analysis

The latest release of new STN follows the recent launch of the Derwent Markush Resource (DWPIM) on November 18. Offering MARPAT® from CAS and DWPIM from Thomson Reuters together on a single platform, new STN is the first and only unified Markush solution available.

For more details, including a complete list of new features and content, please see the "What's New" sheet. A recorded presentation with search examples is also available to help you learn more about the new release.

A number of resources, including a growing library of Quick Start Tutorials, are available on the STN training webpage and within new STN to help you get started. Please contact your regional STN Service Center or STN representative if you have any questions or comments.
