Major update in GBFULL improves quality of full text

24. June 2015

The producer of the GBFULL database, LexisNexis Univentio, re-OCRed all documents with full text, which improved the quality in description and claims. All GB-documents with full text were loaded as updates between 20150427 and 20150623. In total more than 2.28 million national family records with more than 2.62 million publications were affected.
Documents with publication year 2015 were already processed with the new OCR-software, so there was no need for updating.

Due to the improved quality of the data, more hits might be received than before for queries including the fields /BI, /DETD, or /CLM. Using the /UP-field in the query with a recent update date could result in a very large number of hit documents.

GBFULL (Great Britain Patents Full-Text Database) covers the full-text of patent applications and granted patents published in the United Kingdom. While the first document is from 1782, comprehensive coverage is starting 1893. More than 2.81 million family records with more than 3.56 million publications are available.
