DWPI: Extended Country Coverage Includes Turkey

19. May 2015

The country coverage in DWPI has been further enhanced with the inclusion of records relating to Turkish patents and utility models. Turkey is a fast-growing economy with corresponding expansion in the intellectual property landscape and Thomson Reuters is responding to this growth in patenting activity by including this important patent authority in DWPI.

This latest addition further extends the global coverage of editorially enhanced content in the file, with data from 52 sources (50 patent-issuing authorities and 2 journal sources).

The coverage of Turkish data in DWPI includes all applications for patents and utility models published from January 2015. Records identified as basics have DWPI titles and abstracts and manual coding, with deep indexing for chemical records where applicable. The first records appeared in DWPI Update 201530.

The coverage is of the document types listed below with kind codes in brackets. Note that these are DWPI-designated kind codes as the Turkish Patent Institute does not assign any.

  • Patent applications (TR A)
  • Utility Models (TR U)
  • Turkish translation of granted EP patent (TR T4)*
  • Turkish translation of EP claims (TR T3)*

*No examples known yet in 2015 data

Further details about number formats for Turkey and other authorities covered in DWPI can be found in the DWPI Reference Center.
