INPADOCDB/INPAFAMDB - Enhanced coverage of citation information

09. July 2010

As of July 9 2010, the coverage of patent citation data in the INPADOC files INPADOCDB and INPAFAMDB has been enhanced. The recent enhancements comprise new citation details and improved functionality supporting new and efficient ways for competitor analyses:

  • publication dates available for cited patent numbers
  • improved coverage of applicant citations
  • sources of citation extended for PCT-applications
  • search report office available for citations of PCT-applications
  • cited patent assignee names are now searchable

Patent Citations are very useful sources to find additional prior art, to identify key patents of a particular area of technology and to see if a company is driven by innovative technologies.
The INPADOC databases cover patent citations for more than 12 mio applications from 21 patent authorities. These citations are a valuable source for analyzing the prior art provided by patent applicants and patent examiners.
