FRFULL: Backfile data and English machine translations will be added - French Patents will go back to 1902
29. October 2009
The coverage of the FRFULL (French Patents full text) file on STN will be significantly extended through the implementation of backfile information produced by LexisNexis Univentio going back to 1902.
So far FRFULL covered the complete collection of FR patent applications back until 1980 in French. Starting October 28, 2009, database updates will cover granted patents in addition to patent applications plus English machine translations for the description and claims. The backfile information for applications and granted patents will be loaded continuously. An information about the progress of the backfile loading will be given in the file banner.
Patent applications and corresponding granted patents form one database record. Database records contain bibliographic data and full text for description and claims in English and French. Clipped images, mostly front page images, are also included, when available.
Full text data have been created by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and may therefore contain misinterpreted characters or incomplete text.
