What's New?
Get up-to-date on the latest from STN. Learn what’s new and coming soon on both classic and new STN.

Derwent World Patents Index (DWPISM) and INPADOCDB on STN – The Best of Both Worlds
Derwent World Patents Index and INPADOCDB are two patent family databases that are widely used on the STN platform. This workshop will illustrate how to use these two databases together to increase the comprehensiveness of a search using the unique features found in each database. From the value-add indexing that Thomson Reuters provides for DWPI (including the Derwent Chemistry Resource indexing, Derwent classes and manual codes) to the complementary information found only in INPADOCDB (including additional patent authority coverage, legal status and citation information), using the two databases in concert will provide the searcher with the critical and comprehensive information neither database can provide on its own.

The Secret Life of CAplusSM
CAplus contains more than 41 million patent and journal article references in 80 different areas of technology, including life sciences, organic, macromolecular and  applied chemistry , plus physical, inorganic, and analytical chemistry.  This presentation will explore lesser known features of CAplus on classic STN and demonstrate how to get the best possible results by incorporating these features into your searching.

Structure Search on New STN
With the addition of Markush search and ReaxysFileSub to the new STN platform, there are now a multitude of databases that allow for structure searching of substances. This presentation will cover tips and tricks for building structure queries, and examples of multifile structure searches.

Creating reports from the new STN platform with BizInt Smart Charts
The latest new STN platform release includes a BizInt Smart Charts export option for patent and bibliographic search results. This presentation will show you how the new STN platform and BizInt Smart Charts work together seamlessly, and will include specific demonstrations of how you can use tools in the BizInt Smart Charts product family to create, customize and distribute tabular reports from new STN, integrate information from different databases, normalize terminology across records, and create basic visualizations.
