What’s New on STN®
Get up-to-date on the latest from STN.  Learn what’s new and coming soon!

Enhancing Search Efficiency by Using STNext®
Learn how STNext can help you save time by making you more efficient in conducting best practices for searching STN. This two part hands-on session provides opportunities to try it yourself on your own laptop or tablet throughout the training.

Multi‐file Structure Searching on STNext®
A continuation of our hand-on session, showing you how to efficiently search structures in the key STNext structure files.

There are multiple structure searchable databases on STNext. This interactive presentation will illustrate how to create and/or import a chemical structure and then search that structure in the CAS REGISTRYSM and MARPAT® databases, as well as the Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR) and the Derwent Markush Resource (DWPIM) databases. The corresponding patent families containing the indexed structures of interest will be found in CAplusSM and the Derwent World Patent Index® (DWPI) databases, respectively. The session will finish with showing how to de-duplicate records across those patent family databases, either manually or using the STN Patent Family Manager wizard. This presentation is geared to STN searchers of all levels, from beginner to intermediate/expert.

Groundbreaking New Database from CAS
We’ll reveal the details of a brand new database from CAS launching exclusively on STNext this fall. Be among the first to learn about this resource which is designed to make a particularly difficult type of IP searching much more efficient for you and your colleagues.

The INPADOC File: Content Overview, Legal Status Searching, and Best Practices
The International Patent Documentation file (INPADOC) is a global collection of bibliographic and legal status information. The INPADOC database is produced by the European Patent Office (EPO), enhanced by the FIZ Karlsruhe editorial team, and provided in two enhanced versions on STN: INPADOCDB, in which one patent application represents one record, and INPAFAMDB, in which one global patent family represents one record.

In this session, we will provide a short introduction to INPADOC on STN, including an overview about the content and the database organization, and will present the legal status data of INPADOC in more detail. The STN implementation of INPADOC with two files allows efficient searching, from broad to highly granular. We will illustrate this by discussing different case studies, e.g., searching for country specific information from EP and PCT applications, searching for SPC information and discuss recent coverage extensions for pre-grant legal status
