Additional ECLA (European Classification) patent classification codes from the European Patent Office are being added to the CA/CAplus family of files. The addition of these codes is expected to be completed by the end of 2004.
In addition, extended ECLA codes, e.g., G03F007-20+26, are now searchable.

The Database Summary Sheets are available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

5. KOREAPAT UPDATED

The Korean Patent Abstracts (KOREAPAT) file has been updated with more than 21,000 unexamined Korean patents (A-documents) published from April till June 2004.
For each document bibliographic data and abstract in English language as well as a representative drawing is available.

The Database Summary Sheet is available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

6. LISA - NEW TO STN

LISA (Library and Information Science Abstracts), produced by Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, Bethesda, MD, USA, became available on STN.
LISA is a bibliographic database providing information on all areas of library and information science and is designed for library professionals and other information specialists.
The file currently covers over 440 periodicals from more than 68 countries and in more than 20 different languages.
Citations contain bibliographic information, controlled vocabulary, and an abstract.
Titles are available in original language and English translation.
Simultaneous left and right truncation (SLART) is available in the Basic Index (/BI) field.
The file currently contains 264,004 records from 1969 to date and is updated twice a month. Automatic current-awareness searches (SDIs) may be run on every update (default) or monthly.
With this release, STN now offers a total of 27 CSA databases not available on any other host except for CSA’s own Internet Database Service (IDS) which is site licences only (fixed fee arrangements). This means STN now offers exclusively 27 CSA databases on a pay-as-you-go basis. The CSA databases cover a wide range of scientific and technical information in the life sciences, environmental and aquatic sciences, computer sciences, materials science, engineering and aerospace.

The Database Summary Sheet is available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

7. MEDLINE - ADDITIONAL DATA ADDED

Data from 1950 has been added, and MEDLINE now contains records from 1950 to the present.

The Database Summary Sheet is available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

8. PHAR - NEW SEARCH AND DISPLAY FIELDS AVAILABLE

Five new search and display property fields have been added:

  • Freely Rotatable Bonds (FRB)
  • H Bond Acceptor (HAC)
  • H Bond Donor (HD)
  • LogP (LOGP)
  • Molecular Weight (MW)

The LIPINSKI/CALC feature has been added to allow an answer set to be limited to substances fitting the Lipinski Rule parameters.
A new search and display field, Gene Name (/GEN), has also been added.

The Database Summary Sheet is available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

9. REGISTRY/ZREGISTRY - SELECT COMMAND ENHANCED

When the SELECT command is used with the Deleted Registry Number (DR), Alternate Registry Number (AR), Replaced Registry Number (RR), or Preferred Registry Number (PR) field codes, these fields are now re-qualified to the Basic Index (/BI) field. This is consistent with how the RN field is handled by the SELECT command.

The Database Summary Sheets are available in STNGUIDE and on the Web on our Database List.

10. TOXCENTER - ADDITIONAL DATA ADDED TO THE MEDLINE FILE SEGMENT

Data from 1950 has been added to the MEDLINE file segment of TOXCENTER.

11. WPIDS/WPINDEX/WPIX - CHANGE IN NUMBER FORMATS FOR CN-A DOCUMENTS

The format of CN-A application numbers in Derwent World Patents Index is changing to accommodate a change in the raw data format, and avoid incorrect patent families. For details see the Derwent web site
http://thomsonderwent.com/coverage/latestupdates/cn_a-numformat-change/

12. REMOVAL OF DATABASES

End of 2004, the following databases will be removed from STN International:
ABCD, DEMAS, EUMAS, EUROPATFULL, EUROPEX, FORKAT, IRMAS, PATOSDE, PATOSEP, PATOSWO, RUSSCI, SIGLE.
A new file - EPFULL - covering the European patent data (PATOSEP, EUROPATFULL) will be available as of January 3rd, 2005. EPFULL will be offered without connect time charges in January and February 2005, giving you opportunity to get acquainted to the new file.
Please note that German (DE) and WIPO (WO) patent data is available on STN in the databases PATDPA, PATDPAFULL (both DE) and PCTFULL (WO). Customers with SDIs (automatic alerts) in EUROPATFULL, PATOSDE, PATOSEP, PATOSWO have already been informed by letter about the transfer of their SDIs. For customers who run alerts manually we advise to use alert queries from:

  • PATOSWO in PCTFULL,
  • PATOSDE in PATDPAFULL,
  • PATOSEP in EPFULL (in case of legal status searches or displays, use INPADOC),
  • EUROPATFULL in EPFULL.

If it is necessary to adjust the queries and should you need assistance, please contact our help desk - our specialists will be happy to help you and can carry out test runs of your queries.
