FYI

1. WPINDEX - SEARCHABLE BY CHEMICAL STRUCTURE FROM APRIL 2ND!

The Derwent World Patents Index (Derwent WPI) file WPINDEX will become searchable by chemical structure from 2 April 2001 for the first time! This is a feature of Derwent WPI previously only available to Derwent Subscribers in files WPIDS/WPIX. The chemical structure segment of Derwent WPI is known as the Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR) and makes use of standard STN structure searching techniques. DCR indexing is applied to Derwent WPI from April 1999 onwards, and there are currently more than 135,000 compounds in the database (as of March 2001). In addition, the Derwent Compound Number (DCN) field will be made available for users of WPINDEX for the first time, enabling the crossover between the structure and bibliographic segments to find documents dating back to 1987. Also from 2 April: a SAMPLE structure search option, for query evaluation and preliminary searches, will be introduced into all three files WPINDEX, WPIDS and WPIX for the first time. For up-to-date pricing information for the Derwent Chemistry Resource enter "HELP COST" online.

For further information visit
http://scientific.thomson.com/support/patents/dwpiref/ or enter "HELP DCR" online.

2. DGENE CANDIDATE LIMITS RAISED FOR GETSIM

Responding to popular customer request, the limit of 5,000 candidate answers per GETSIM homology analysis has been raised to 10,000 answers. Type "HELP QLIMITS" online for detailed information about all LIMITS in the DGENE file.

3. MEDLINE FILE UPDATED ON 11 MARCH

Specific file changes:

  • Reloaded CT, CN, and MN Thesaurus files based on the 2001 MeSH vocabulary data
  • Updated MeSH Tree Numbers in the /CT field based on tables derived from the 2001 MeSH Vocabulary data
  • Added 185,734 new records derived from NLM's former HealthSTAR database. These records all have been added with 20.010.223 postings for both /ED and /UP (The new records do not contain an EW (Entry Week) field)

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has informed us that MEDLINE is now enhanced to include subject areas previously covered by separate NLM specialty databases such as AIDSLINE, HealthSTAR, HISTLINE, POPLINE and BIOETHICS.

4. INIST-CNRS IS LINKED TO FIZ AUTODOC

Since 5 March, the leading French document supplier for scientific and technical literature, INIST-CNRS, is linked to FIZ AutoDoc. INIST-CNRS offers access to nearly 25,000 French and international journals, 10,000 of which are current journals. Thus the FIZ AutoDoc Service presently offers automated access to document delivery from appr. 130,000 scientific journals A copyright fee of FFr 7.- (DM 2.10) will be charged for each delivery from this supplier. During this first phase, INIST-CNRS will deliver standard orders by postal mail only.
